synspila X parrot spawn!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Finally an update! The pics still suck, but be patient, I'll keep trying.
I've culled the fry down to around 60, more than half are parrots of one type or another. They're starting to color up a little & many look like they will be faders. The real surprise was that many of them have some pearling, one in particular...

Yeah, I went through (literally!) every single fry (twice!), only the largest were kept...although I did tip the scales a little for any fish displaying interesting shape.
I'd say at least 25% were parrots, 25% were sb, but had a normal head/face, the remaining 50% were all seemingly full length & had a variety of shapes. I made sure I kept the best examples of all the different types, the biggest, brightest, the nicest shape etc.

Can't wait til they start fading!

Yeah thats going to be something else I hope you get a couple shortbodied syns out of it too those guys are the best looking shortbodies in my opinion im fixing to have to go through the same tough debate my self on choosing fry thats some tedious stuff to do

sweet they are looking really good! Reason I asked for an update is because I have the exact pair vieja male x female bp and they just had wigglers also so wanted to see how yours was turning so I could compare. :D thanks keep us updated

I actually have the uncle to these fry paired to a different parrot right now...not sure I'm gonna let them spawn yet though. Not only do I have loads of syn X bp fry already, but I also have a pair of electric blue acara's that I'd like to focus on & I need the tank space for them.

+1 Both sides have good point's.
What we're talking about is the issue of breeds & breed standards. Every breed was made & named by a breeder, but no governing body (such as the AKC, UKC, etc, for dogs) recognized this name...it was just hyped by the breeder, and pushed into common usage by word of mouth.
So we find it hard to accept, because gee, anyone can cross this or that and call it whatever they want. Despite the existence of master breeder clubs, fancy FH shows and a few other organizations, there just doesn't seem to be any method to the madness.

The number of cichlid combos are more than combination lock combos.. combination locks use only 3 numbers to unlock too and the combinations are countless..

So... Fortune teller fish Kamfas are just one of them.. And flowerhorns were here first. And kamfa department is covered.. Fortunefish as a strain name over Kamfa is wrong.. Just a bad Apple wanna break off but still an Apple.
