Decent fixture, I use it on my 30 gallon, and yes, these are normal output T5s. On my 16" deep tank, I can grow anything I want (depending on my CO2 dosing).

If you're only issue is the yellow color, why not upgrade bulbs? GE's 9325K bulbs get great reviews.

Sweet im working with a 46gl bowfront and thats about the same depth. I think ill jump on this one. Like I said its only semi planted I have a small 10gl im going fully planted with to start getting into this plant stuff. Like I said for the 46gl im just looking for to not have yellow lights and to be able to grom a few easy lowlight plants. So thanks for the input everyone! This thread has helped me learn alot about plant lighting.

$30 for that 55 gallon box of weeds.. no co2... just throwin that out there..... there is however $100 worth of "fancy rocks" and weekly ferts..


jcardona1 your tank looks AMAZING and you did lay out a lot of great info...

it is possible to do a planted tank with low light, no co2 and no ferts, but you are limited to low light plants like anubias, java fern, mosses, etc.

you can do some pretty neat stuff with around 2w a gallon...
