T. passionis (progress photos)

Those are stunning fish! Do you find they do well in a group? I've never kept that species, but I've always had good success keeping similar species in groups. They seem to be much more comfortable than when kept singly or in pairs. Do you find the same to be true?

Nice fish! I love Thorichthys

Man Nutty!!:headbang2 Sweet up date on these little guys. The color is amazing now.

How is all of the rest of the guys?
Cheers mate, the other fish are doing great. I'm in the early stages of getting my second tank ready, already sorted the background.:naughty:

T. pasiones is probably my fav. of the Thorichthys!! Totally awesome and superb choice!! :D Absolutely love them!!

Have they started to get any black edging on their fins and throats? I had a pair that when extremely pissed or wanting to breed they would get black on their fins and throats. It looked hella awesome with the yellow. Great contrast!!

Thanks again for the pictures! :D Keep them comin! :)
No problem. The black is developing nicely around the throat, the fins are edged with a little red. I have four fish that have paired, but no spawnings yet. I believe pasionis become sexually mature later than other Thorichthys.

They're really cool. What size are they now?
The largest pair are almost 5" TL.

I originally started with 7 fish, i lost 2 runts. I have 4 fish that have paired off and 1 lone fish that seems to tag along with the largest pair. I believe the lone fish is a female.

The group seem to tolerate each other well most of the time, other times the 2 pairs will gill flare each other. There's never any aggressive chasing, only stand offs. I personally think these fish would be more comfortable in a group, if kept in a tank 4ft or more.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

Thankyou. One of the members on our forum was lucky enough to get a couple of wild T. pasionis. The catch location was Laguna de Xbacab. Not sure if they are male/ female though. These fish are Laguna Noh.

Have you noticed that their pectoral fins are elongated as well?! Its the oddest lookin thing, but still very very cool.

Dangit, I can't find the pictures of my T. pasiones when they are showing their black throats and their pelvic, dorsal, and anal fins trimmed in black. Very frustrating. Oh well.

Gorgeous fish man! Love them for sure! Perhaps I shalt have to get some more. :)
