Taiwan, Kenting Public Aquarium

Went to the aquarium in the tropical south of Taiwan a few weeks ago.

I was very impressed with the size of the displays. I went for two main reasons:
1. To see the whale sharks - but alas they had already been moved.
2. To see the penguins - the wife's favorite animals - and they did not disappoint.

Here are some pics. This was the first tank we went to after the guins. It had black and white tip reef sharks as well as hammerhead sharks. Was rather open and devoid of decor but the fish didn't seem to mind and cruised around non-stop.

That black tip is awesome. That is very disappointing that they didn’t have the whale sharks there. I was so excited to see some pictures. Lol
Someday I’m going to go to an aquarium that has them. I can only imagine how impressive they will be in person!

When we were in Okinawa we planned to go to the aquarium there as they have them. But we ran out of time as we were only on the island for one day and the round trip would have made timing tight as.
I, like you, will go to an aquarium that has whale sharks one day. Perhaps when I am all grown up. Lol

This was the kelp forest tank. It was about three stories deep and had viewing windows on three different levels from three different angles which was nice.

Amazing pictures!
This post made me look up the Georgia Aquarium here in the states. I tuned into some of their web cams and my kids loved it. They didn’t want to stop watching. I have yet to go to an aquarium with such large tanks.

This was an "Evolution" of the oceans displays. All digital but not bad.

This was the freshwater section.
There were some bichirs probably 25-30cm as I think the tile was 40cm.



Arapaima tank


The Asian Arowana tank. i liked the tank only wish they had more aros in it.

There was a gar tank that was quite cool to see.




Taiwan freshwater trout tank.


Some native fish in a large river style tank.

This was a tank of large Talapia, Asian carp and some others I can't remember now.

Small stream fish. Again natives if I recall correctly.
