i agree with you miguel, i just like to point out the extreme. in many asian countries, space is a luxury, even more so when it comes to fish keeping, hence you see the tanks with more fish than water. on the plus side, they do well in maintaining water quality at its best, resulting in the nice large fish you see.

I agree with you Wes. I've always had this attitude, but would get flamed over it alot lol

I posted a similar idea in the catfish forum about RTC's, but it went mostly unnoticed.

I feel, as long as you're keeping water quality excellent, providing as much space as you can (at least a decent sized tank) and feeding good food, you're a responsible aquarist, and have done your part.

I don't like the way some people call others irresponsible because their perception of the hobby is different than their own.

On a side note, I looooved the tank at the back of your store when it had osphronemus gouramy, dats, etc... very cool. :)

Dunno about you guys but i like to see my fish swim and dart around the tank, interacting with each other etc Not pumping their tail once and smashing their face on the other side of the tank...

3 $30 fish crammed into a 4x18x24 isn't impressive.

If it was a 8'x4'x2' with more fish, i think that would be better than this set up.

I agree. Anyone can have this setup, but most choose not too. To each his own though ;)

Definately each to their own, what i said above is my opinion and mine alone and in no way am i trying to disrespect the owner, He can do whatever he likes.

I should of added above that it is impressive that the pacu spawned, nature always finds a way :headbang2

I am not a 1000 gallon per inch of fish guy ( there are a lot of those at MFK ) and do not oppose overstocked tanks ( some of them, in balance, are a tribute to their owners, an dwe have quite a few ones in MFK ) but this is ridiculous under any theory whatsoever....The RTC barely moves, for chrissakes!!:(

+1 i also think that is so small for those fish and that is cruel. must be a fish owner not a fish keeper....

That must be a record for the largest fish spawned in the smallest tank! Pretty sad to say the least. The RTC is totally deformed and stunted and the fish probably can barely turn around. And Wes, I totally disagree with you. All these examples you give of people living in different conditions and which is better yatta yatta have a choice to how they live. In other words, no one is forcing them to live this way. These fish have no choice. Someone decided their fate for them by cramming them in a tiny tank. Yeah there are prisoners who live in a small cells but they also get out and excersise in a large field, etc. The same goes for many cultures that cram people in a small house. But they don't live in that small house 24/7 do they? That tank with those fish would be like a man living in a small home bathroom for his entire life. Eat and **** inside a small bathroom your entire life and when you turn around you hit your body against the wall because you have no room. How would you like that? I'm all for keeping large fish in the aquaria but hands down that tank is way to small for those three fish- too small for even one of them and if you can't see that then you have major problems and should not keep animals.

So your vouching for millions of asians that they all do water changes on a regular basis and if they didn't then those fish would not have gotten that big? :grinno: The truth is that their water to begin with is much better in quality than the crappy tap water we have here, thus the fish are healthier and get bigger.
