take this invasive species!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wiping out untold numbers of fish/species of fish in the Gulf with oil is both unacceptable and uncontrollable. Having said that!

completly bull**** and senseless waste of money. invasive species do not exist. its just humans fear of change.

well humans themself are an invasive species outside of africa. i think we have a larger footprint than goldfish.

I have seen a lot of your posts recently, I can't tell if you're trolling in EVERY one or if you really think you're bringing an intelligent viewpoint to the table. You should put a little more thought into your posts IMO.

hi, im new here xD

as you guys know, floridas unusually cold weather is killing off invasives, and its also making it easier to go get rid of them ourselves

i caught 50 plecostomus (almost all with my hand, some with a dipnet)
as well as 4 tilapia in about 4hrs

i also saw about
7 tilapia
4 plecos
and a walking catfish all dead

theyre just not feeling this weather xD

i had only caught 1 adult plecostomus, and about 4 adult tilapia, when it was warm, and ive been here for a few years
(babies are a different story, tmtc)

I'm so moving to florida. We have nothing here in california. lucky!

To elaborate on my previous comment: I say uncontrollable because not only do oil dispersants just sink the oil but the U.S. issued hundreds more deep water drilling permits just this year! and thats not to mention the drilling around the gulf that the U.S. has no jurisdiction over. I think its just a matter of time before we have another oil spill and nobody can do anything about it. Sorry to derail this old thread, I'm done.

Why are you fellas taking a piss at him? He's actually correct to some extent, minus the fact that he rather let species go extinct, and others go rampant. He's like the lazy fella who sits on the chair and rants, rather than advocate for action.

You are more or less accurate, but sound like a ideological fanatic rather than a person keen on preserving the distribution of a variety of species.

I don't know about you, but it will not be pleasant to see rivers full of snakeheads and nothing else in America.

By the way, as humans, we cause mass extinction, we cannot exactly be considered as invasive species, seeing that we do not actually cause imbalance without the integration of other species.

we are an invasive species. Beside that snakeheads do not destroy any eco system. They never did nor can.

the problem i see is, that i think in a much wider range. There is no good or bad in nature. Just change. You cant't stop it and i assure you evry ecosystem is in constant change. Be it a snakehead or an asteroid.

Darius - You're right, you ARE an invasive species. Feel free to "go back" to Africa, preferably somewhere where you can't spew such irrelevance on a public forum. You want to whine about US oil spills? Your location states you're in Germany. No real opinion if you're not here dealing with it first hand. If you're one of those people who thinks it's "cute" to set your location to a far off destination and you're really in the states, then I think the solution is ridiculously simple! Stop driving or riding in cars, buses, motor boats, or airplanes. These things are dependent on oil. When we use as much oil as we do here in the States, we have to drill some to make the amount of money we spend on buying it more affordable. Therefore, We use oil -> we drill -> it spills -> it kills. Simple as that. Stop ranting for change, and start putting your feet to the pavement and ya know, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

When a species doesn't migrate to an ecosystem by it's own means (wings, feet, fins, bellies, or ingenuity) it is invasive. They compete with Natives for the same resources. A lot of the people here just hate seeing all of these native species killed off because of the stupidity of half-ass pet owners.

OP - I wouldn't have wasted their deaths by just leaving them on the banks. They could've been fed to other fish, other pets, fertilizer, or you could've just plain sold them (and make a little money on the side).
