Takin some Heat on my 90

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey headrush that tank is WAYYY to small for even that GT. You should only keep a tetra as they grow big enough. Oh and that water change schedule is HORRIBLE lol. I am just playin around. Yeah those guys are thick headed. Obviously they have different opinions on fishkeeping and are more strict by their standards however here on MFK we are relaxed and fine. Your tank is stocking nicely and you shouldn't listen to those fools. The only thing I say to you is if you can thin out the WC's a little rather than doing one big one a week. Example 3- 20% changes a week or a nice 10% every day for 5 days and then on weekends relax. Your tank will be more stable at a certain nitrate like a constant 5ppm or 10ppm rather than 3ppm right after the water change and 20ppm when you do your next WC. I do this with all my tanks and I don't have a single tank over 5ppm nitrate. Otherwise you have an awesome tank and keep up your great work and effort!

*WEE OO WEE OO WEE OO*! The overstock police are here. Please come out with your fish in shippable packages, and mail them to 1414 dragon road in Richland Washington 99354! (the address is fake) JJK I am the overstock police chief, and I say it is a little cramped but nothing to get flamed over....*WEE OO WEE OO WEE OO*:ROFL::ROFL:

seems fine that jack dempsy may get 8'' but it and the green terror are the only big fish in there but it seems fine i wouldn't be suprised if the gt and jd started fighting later on but i would be just as suprised if they never fought so only time will tell it seems fine for know though i'd give it till the gt was around 7-8'' to see if they fight but if then there arn't any proublems i think your good

but as far as stocking go i'd say add a few more loaches they like being in groups and sorry about the salvini

Lots of 'old school' stocking advice on those other fish sites thats for sure. I know they would go off on me if they read the number of fish we have in one of our grow out tanks... A 55 with 45 syndonis petricola's and 8 red jewel's in it plus a baby pleco we had no other place for but couldn't resist. It sounds horrid but all of the fish are small although the jewels are growing like weeds and is very heavilly filtered. This is also one of the two tanks that gets weekly rather than monthly water changes to keep everything in check.

I think these poeople assume that we are just tossing a large number of fish in a tank and not doing the proper testing, maintaince, and follow up. I KNOW I have fish in tanks they will outgrow but I also have larger tanks waiting for them and the resources and room to pick up more as needed.

We are the wierd...the differant...the outcasts of the fishkeeping world...

We push the limits and explore new methouds and fresh ideas...

We are MFK...

All the rest are nothing more than FEEDERS

wow--what a group of uptight nuns. Ok--i have never seen a set "list" of what you absolutely can and cannot stock together.. most of us here know that you CAN bend the rules if you do the proper maintenance and feedings and keep proper water conditions. Because of nasty ppl like them i refuse to post pics of my tanks on sites like that for fear that some jacka** will rip my head off over what i choose to stock.

youre doing great--i would leave that site in style if i were you! lol...

I guess I better not post pics of my tanks, I would get life with no possible parole.
Your tank looks fine to me. As a matter of fact I think I still see some more empty space. :lol3: LOL

LOL. They were over-reacting. I have a 20 gallon with a breeding pair of H. carpinte (both 2.5"), a 3" Orange Pike and a 6" Channa lucia, and aggression levels are negligible. Isn't my tank much much more overstocked than yours (I'm half-expecting someone to flame me for such outrageous overstocking!)? Like others have said, I'd quit that forum.
