Taking the plunge...again :)

Small video of them eating a piece of market shrimp. Some of them already have nics out of their bodies, I'm not sure if they were already like that or if its happened since they got put in the tank. I don't expect all of them to live but hopefully I can keep 30 of them alive.

Looking sweet! They look so tiny in that tank:D
When they get bigger this is going to be absolutely B.E.A.S.T! :)

Man, that tank is sick.... So you couldnt get your hands on some caribas? Isnt it still not late too add some more ?

looking good man, love to have a big shoal too.
here's a video of 36 cariba feeding

it would be much much better if he was feeding them something bigger or at least not throw in smelts one by one.

you can also tie the food on a fishing line (attach to a steel leader so they don't bite through the line) makes clean up much easier especially when they get bigger and you want to feed them something bi

Nice! they do look tiny, or is that just a jumbo size shrimp? When shipped to you were they bagged individually?

When i ordered 1" reds from AS they all came in one bag.

@stempy. Thats gunna be the luckiest shoal of reds i've seen in a long time! Their going to love that tank. Speaking of the tank, it looks so bad ass man. The only thing i'd do is black water it a little (can be too much of a hassle) and take out the skull and shell. The driftwood and plants look awesome though.

+1 on Bw. I just switched to Indian almond leaves and wow, love it! Plus it lowered my ph slightly which is awesome cuz it was at 8.2-8.5 now its about 7.8-7.9! Their pretty expensive but I mow a customers house who has a lush almond tree, so I just collect the fallen leaves. My rbp seem to love them too! I used to use peat but too much work...

Easier Bw: microbe lift amazon extract.

You can use the leaves from almost any tree actually. I use birch. :)

@jp80911 Those are some really nice caribas, what size tank is that?

@aquaponicpaw They were packed in 2 boxes 20 in each bag, very professionally packed as well wrapped in insulation.

@Mike The shell came from a trip to the honduras and the skull my son wanted so both are in there pretty much because my son wants them to be, I know it doesnt look right but sometimes...you just gotta do it :) Thank you for the kind comments about the tank as well, I spent HOURS collecting the wood, cleaning it and aquascaping, and honestly it is by a country mile my favorite decor I have ever had. As for black water I'm not sure, I would love to but with the 24/7 water changes would it have time to work? Can I just go collect some maple leaves or somethign put them in a mesh bag and put them in the sump? Will it deteriorate the water conditions at all? It's just something I've never done with leaves, in the past I bought blackwater extract but that was on a 75, 90 and 125 gallon without 24/7 water changes, this is a little different!

Thanks everyone for the comments they are appreciated!!!!!! It's funny the little guys do not act like any rbp's I have ever kept. They are not skittish at all, in fact when I came up to the tank when i got home form work tonight they instantly came to the front window to greet me which is exactly the opposite of what I expected to happen.
