Hey yall!
Well, I'm happy to say that I just purchased my 1st monstrous monster fish.

I bought a pair of tiny albino channel cats today (yes I know how big they get and how much they'll eat and poop). I've tried keeping them in an outdoor pond, but they were so small in the huge space that thI never saw them again (I know they didn't last long, though).

This time, I'm doing it smart. I currently have these 2 1/2 inchers in a 20 gallon growout tank (I hope I'm using this term correctly). After they outgrow that, I plan on moving them to a 200 gallon outdoor pond, and then into a 9,000 gallon main pond.

They're very scared at the moment, so I could only get a far off pic of one.
fingers crossed that they do well!

How long ago did you have some in the pond? I notice a lot of catfish will "disappear" and reappear sometimes months later. Maybe the Cats are still there? Good luck with these pair. I love these Cats. I think they're underrated.

Trust me, man. The pond is now crystal clear, and I put them in over 4 years ago. The pond has been drained a few times since as well to remove all the goldfish (my dad wanted ONLY koi).

I'm 100% sure it's long gone.

I agree; native fish never get the credit they deserve.
Thanks!

Still can't get them to hold still for a pic:irked:.

They're very active eaters. They just had a big meal of bloodworms (it's so funny to watch them eat until they're little pink bellies are distended:ROFL:).

The albino cats are great, they were my first venture into native fish keeping, and i started with the small guys just like you. after the out grew my 150, i donated them to my local zoo, and now they have gobs of room to swim,

That was very responsible, do you visit this zoo and see your ex-pets?

That's amazing! What an awesome fish story! I sure hope mine do as well as yours did:D.
Nice job doing the responsible hand-over, too. I just wish the snakehead owners here in Maryland had had as much sence as you:irked:.

BTW; about how long did it take them to grow to full size?

Tried to enter a vid, but it didn't work:irked:
