Thanks for bumping this...

My buddy is getting frustrated! The two have spawned a few times since the move. The male will not eat and his mouth will buldge under the chin for about 5 days and hide and then nothing. The two will go another few days of eating and being out about and they they disappear again only for the male to look like he is holding again, and again, several days later back to normal. WTF is up with that? I told my friend that young parents take a few tries to get it right but my friend is starting to think that they are not actually spawning even though he is convinced he has seen the eggs (small orange eggs). The pair are VERY aggressive/defensive of the tank and the male latched on to my buddies pinky yesterday as he was thinning out some java moss. Scared the jebesus out of him!

Is what I am descriping indeed spawning or is my buddy seeing somehting else?

Sounds very like it to me ,
all I would say at this point is don't do any water changes or tank maintenance as this could be whats putting them off.

Other then trimming the moss, he hasnt been in the tank much. There is a little dat in his tank that he has been trying for weeks to catch cause he is afraid the dat is eating the fry but the little bastage is just too quick and the tank so heavily planted its been a challenge!
