So the time has come, I want to switch up my 220. It is currently a strictly hap tank but I am getting the itch to do some tangs. I would love to have a tank that is mostly smaller fish (lelupi, brichardi , ect). Anyways I would love some input from you Tang gurus as to what type and how many I can safely stock in my 220. For the record I have never had tangs before. The tank is a standard perfecto 220 with cornerflows. I have caribsea arag as substrate and tons of rocks. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Some info, my lelupi group killed my two shell dwellers species. All of them.

Those gobies are really neat. I may do a few of those, some shellies and a lelupi or two. I dont want to jam stock the tank. I really want to give the fish alot of space. Im figuring no more than 8 fish in the 220. Small fish coupled with some authentic rockquascaping should make for one awesome display. As I said before Tangs are totally new to me so Im in for tons of research. Thanks

Same story here....

Leleupi, Calvus/Comps., Cyps., Ophthalmotilipia, many Julies., (Please don't just do 8 fish in that monster)

Large groups of tropheus, Fronts, or Petrochromis, maybe some lepidiolamps.

This needs to be taken on a fish by fish basis as well. You could have two of the same fish one being nice and the other being satan reborn.

8 Fishes in a 220 Gallon???? WHOA!! How will you ever find them? :D I currently have 8 Neolamp. Pulcher "Daffodil", 6 Lamp. Brevis Kigoma, 7 Cyps Kigoma and 11 Juli Transcriptus in my 120G and I think there's still room for more. With a 220G, you can really do some nice aquascaping and create multiple territories. I currently have 4 territories in my tank. To the left at the back are large rocks piled up for the larger fishes. The Daffodils have laid claim to this area. To the right corner are smaller rocks forming small caves for the Julies. In the middle front is where the shellies reside and the open water is for the Cyps.

With a 220, you can have a school of 20 Cyps and they will look great in there. You could also put in the same number of Paracyps and they will be fine too. They're great schooling fishes and like to stick together. They also enjoy chasing each other around. I wish I had room for sandshifters! Those guys are great. Having multies up front centre will be great too. These guys are entertaining and will multiply in no time.

Tangs are fun, and there's just so much you can do in your tank. So please get more than 8 fishes. :D
