Tang. suggestions please.

yeah you could do 4 types of shellies for the bottom, then 6 calvus/comps, then 2-4 other species for everywhere else

So the time has come, I want to switch up my 220. It is currently a strictly hap tank but I am getting the itch to do some tangs. I would love to have a tank that is mostly smaller fish (lelupi, brichardi , ect). Anyways I would love some input from you Tang gurus as to what type and how many I can safely stock in my 220. For the record I have never had tangs before. The tank is a standard perfecto 220 with cornerflows. I have caribsea arag as substrate and tons of rocks. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

aragonite is great substrate...good choice! good luck with the new setup

I agree 8 is wayyy to few fish.

Tell me what you all think:

15 Cyps.
6 Orange lelupi
6 Julies

possibly a couple gobies (Spathodus sp.)

and a few smaller shell dwellers (Lamprologus sp.)

all together around 30-40 fish.

The tank will have many distinct territories (great idea Gunnex) Im so used to my malawi setups where the fish are an easy 10". Im looking forward to creating a very interactive environment for the fish.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

before you choose a julie, check out j.transcriptus "gombii" they are my faves. and dont forget the comp/calvus, you wont be dissapointed

I love my gombe, They are really Julidochromis marlieri (Gombe) commonly called a transcriptus. Be sure to get larger comps and calvus, as julies will over take a tank with fry.

The gobies will be happiest in a group of 7+.....
