Tanganyikan tank, Is it Possible????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OK OK , so I finally put the shells in about 20 alltogether now, but Wasnt feeling the setup so I did some changes added more black sand, felt it was to bright, took out some rock for more swimming room, as most of the fish stayed in the rocks most of the time, they look alot happier now and I personally am liking the setup way better. So here it is a few pics of the setup and some of the fish.
Ohhhh and I found my crab, I had thrown a tanganyikan crab in it when I started this tank and only seen him twice but not in a while so I thought he was gone. nope hes twice his size now but no pics of him.

old setup

new setup

shellies

and there tank mates

still a little cloudy from the big move. planning on picking up a few more lil guys tomorrow

thanks Mike, Yea my lighting is crazy overkill, I have the nova extreme pro 72 with 12 T5 bulbs, more for salt water, I bought it when this was a peacock tank to bring out all the colors, but it ended up being WAAAY to bright. So I took out half the bulbs, right now im only running 4 10,000k and 2 actinic. in the pic I am, but I normally dont have the actinics on.
about to run to the lfs and hopefully pick up some more stock, since one of my Trig. otositigma died pretty much out the blue, and one of my small marlieri that I havent seen in a few days, I found the crab munching on his remains.

Looks great! I've got a similsr setup started. Currently everything is still in a grow out but they willl all soon be transfered to my 450 gal. I've got 12 burundi fronts, 5 lelupi, and 3 brichardi daffodil. I'm hoping to get some shellies as well as some cyphs. I'll keep tuned in to see updtes. P.S. if you ever want to have frontosa in there I'd reccomend adding them soon and start out with fry. If you add them later as adults or big juvies odds are that the rest of your fish will end up being expensive feeders.

Niiicee , a 450gal I could only wish. Whats in the 450 now then? I def like fronts, great looking fish but for some reason Im not drawn to them, like most ppl, to own them. they make an increadible species tank tho.

Currently it's empty. It's a wood tank I'm just finishing. I still have to install a rock background, setup lighting and do all the finish trim. I almost wish I wasn't so drawn to fronts as well, it would make stocking the tank a lot easier.

Thanks Blue

I was able to snatch a few pics of the crab, there crappy iphone pics because I had to move fast lol

His new cave is in a more visible spot now, hes so cool to watch.

Man, that setup is sick! I liek the rocks much better in their current configuration.

Looks awesome and your stocklist is pretty solid. Will be fun to watch everyone claim spots among the rocks.

You thought about adding a group of cyps?
