TANK BROKE!?!?!?!!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Using foam will not keep a tank from twisting on a warped or bowed stand

I agree if the warp was extreme, but it would depend on the type and thickness of the foam, and the extent of the warping.

Foam is always better than no foam on a DIY stand.

So can i just sand the stand down so itll be even before i put the new tank?

We'd probably have to see the stand to answer that, but it sounds like you may want to look at getting a new one unless you have some crazy sanding skills, and a floor sander lol.

Probably not the problem but how big(wattage) was the heater and was it in contact with the glass? In theory the heater could crack the glass. I'm sure I'm not the first to put a light too close to the top of the tank and crack the cover.

Only place foam is useful is on glass tanks with solid bottoms. It does nothing to level a tank nor protect from warped, twisted or bowed stands. Whether it be factory or DIY.
