I am not a fan of the perfecto large sized tanks.

I compared Aqueon and Perfecto when I bought my 150 and the difference was pretty significant. the Aqueon 150 had thicker glass, tihcker silicone and two cross braces instead of one.

it was a no brainer. The Aqueons are better built, at least on the big sizes.

can't say much about the small ones though. I haven't really compared them directly.

It's comforting to hear this. I also came to the conclusion that the Aqueon/All-Glass tanks were more heavily built than the Perfecto, so I ordered the AGA 125g a week ago from the LFS. On Saturday morning, my wife definitely was not appreciating that I bought the heavier of the two tanks as we struggled to get it indoors!

there is more than meets the eye as far as Aqueon vs Marineland too.

I had my 150 custom done in black silicone.

the silicone that Aqueon uses is the same as what Oceanic uses - it stays black.

I have heard complaints that the black silicone that Perfecto uses can turn a tan colour. I have seen this first hand with a Perfecto setup at my LFS..

they, unfortunately, seem to build the big tanks using the cheapest stuff possible..

ticks me off since my LFS only carries Perfecto tanks now because they are the cheapest ones I guess...I had to spsecial order my Aqueon tank.

well worth the money though.

My house is 4000 sq ft, I plan to place it on a load bearing wall (next to house's outer wall)

I prefer to place it in the middle of my my house though, next to a wall, I don't know how much load it can take though.

I have no idea what my basement looks like because it is finished.

How did you tank crack? I think I want a 5x2x2 150Gallon tank.
i have a 180 on the 2nd floor its next to an outer wall with a jack stud on the inside wall next to it its been there for 5 years no i also have hard wood floors there fine still mostly due to an inexpencive throw rug

I have had my 125 gallon marineland tank for 5 years and the silicon is still black...I hadn't heard this before.

Just curios, what was the glass thickness difference between the Aqueon and Marineland of the same tank size (ex:150 gallon)?

Hi,Ithink that there should be some kind of warranty given by the company to the buyer which protects him against leaks and cracks for a period of time.

when I ordered in my 150 Aqueon, it was sitting on a skid right beside a Perfecto 150.

the glass was not significantly thinner maybe only a milimeter thinner. but it was noticably thinner..it only had one (very flimsy) cross brace, my tank had two that are thick and strong. not flimsy at all.

and the silicone seals were thin, almost minimal looking.

the seals on the aqeon tank were thick:

if your tank has been 5 years+ and its fine, don't worry. it should be all good.

good to know :headbang2

I have a 125 perfecto blackseal that is still black...well for now, I am resealing it. The tank was built in 1999 and I got it used so as I do with almost all used tanks I get am resealing it before I use it.
