Tank crashed. Don't know why

Have you checked with your water company if on that precise day some treatmemt was done, or a higher dosage of chlramine than the one Duane is saying is usual?

I tend to do my water changes on sundays. I feel more comfortable imagining that the guys at the water company are at their minimum capacity...

you said it is a planted tank how are the plants doing lots of growth could have been co2 if dying would be something in the water and as for the ro i think it would be fine it should get everything out of the water. who also has access to the tank could have been foul play (sorry not trying to insult or be a jerk just trying to think of any and all options)

I appreciate the options. I really don't think anyone messed with tank.
Being a planted tank, I didn't do a lot of water changes. Didn't need them.
I didn't change the water until my fish started to die.
The last thing I did was, clean filter pad with tap, added 7 gals of R.O. , and added 2 cap fulls of plant food.
30 hrs later 200 plus fry dead and my Gold Nugget

How about a brand new pond filter sitting in the tank not running?
Something on filter pads?

I still think it could be a bacteria in my R.O. barrel. Or something like that
Don't know

PVC has been up for 3 weeks

But I think maybe I know what might have happened now.

Let me know what you think

The magnum im using now came off my daughter's nasty turtle tank. I washed out the filter and put in a different pad and then ran it on my sump with my pleco's in it. Then after awhile, I forgot about the old bio Mac that was in that filter and put it Back in.

Could this bio Mac be contaminated with some kind of bad bacteria that killed most of my fish?
I did use a bunch of chemicals to keep the turtle clean

Is this possible?
