Tank Creeking sounds? or RTG Speaking to me?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe is the arowana that is making the sound. I used to own a big rtg that makes a drilling sound swimming playing against the water current. Some asian arowana can makes some noise .

Haha so it is my aro? Possibly? I'm gonna pay more close attention and see if it is my rtg. I thought I was crazy when I posted. Stu pie rtg eating pebbles so I cleared my tank gonna head to the fish store and find alt solution for the bottoms of the tank.

What do u guys keep in the bottom o the tank to prevent aronfrom seeing itself all the time and develope drop eyey?? I know some people float ping pong balls ontop of water. But the aro still sees himself underneath. Plz help

How big is your aro? Is it an adult?

Is your tank professionally built and sitting on a frame? Or homemade and sitting on wood? Your tank could very well be moving.

I've had my RTG growl a couple of times and I could hear it through the whole house.

All I can say that if you think it is your tank or stand you had better prepare the area for a future leak or reinforce the stand.

Yah my tanks stand is home made. It use to be a tv stand I took out the wheels underneath and reinforced the stand with a solid back board and four 4x4's. 2 for the mid and one on each side left and right corners. It has to be stable and able to support that tank home depot said it's overkill for a 800lb tank. Now the right side is a little higher though cause I can tell from the level of the water when I do water changes. I glued the board that has grooves from the tank sitting on the it for such a long time and the silver board came with the tank when I bought it used.

So right now I hear creeks here and there I'm going to mark the spots where tank sits on the board and where the board sits on the reinforced stand with a perm marker and see if it's moving or shifting.

Buy my aro is about 9 months old. Close to 10" rtg.

your aro sorta seems to young to make noise but who knows? you could be lacking sleep and hearing things  im jk,next time try recording the sound :D if it happens

Paint the bottom of the tank. Doing for dropeye won't help as reflection is not the problem. Doing for the looks makes a big difference especially if back and bottom are the same.
PITA to do now, but worth it in the long run.
