Tank depth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No pics - it is sitting in the attic now. The SDs were my main concern relating to the height, and i have decided to replace them with mexican tetras, so it should all be good :) I think i will be able to get enough structures in there - i remeasured the tank and it is actually 7ft by 5'8", so that gives me 35+ square feet of area on a 240-ish gallon tank, which is alot more than the 16 feet of area on a standard 240 :D

One more question: Would Hypsophrys nicaraguensis be okay? I am aware they can get 10" long, but I am not sure if they are tall bodied or not. They would be compatible with my Rainbows and convicts, correct?

I'd be afraid a 10" fish would jump out of 11" of water.

I'd stick with smaller, lower swimming cichlids. Cons, firemouths, JDs...
