some nice catfish like a redtail or tsn....or some silver dollars or pacuss...somethin not to aggressive with color...

Not so sure about the red tail!! They can grow to around 5 feet and can be the most aggressive fish kept in a tank. Might be ok if bought from juvenile and grown up alongside the O's....??

I am having luck with Sds but regret not going with clown loaches. Clown loaches sound cool.

GT and O did not get along.... this was my initial stocking.

I have two oscars in my 150 gallon tank along with GT, Severums, Silver Dollars, JD, Firemouth, Convicts and Pleco and everyone gets along fine. They have all been added to the tank at the same time though and are all still relatively small. But havent had any problems with them since they were added about 6 months ago.

Yes it is. Oscars and other South American cichlids require softer water. Their diets are different from some africans which are more herbivorous.

If you wanna mix Old world with New, try Central American Cichlids like Jack dempsey. Their parameters are more similar.
i am not so sure about soft water for oscars, our water is so hard here you can almost chew it, to do water changes i have to turn off my water softener or i would have salt in my oscar tank

Oscars are very flexible as far as tankmates go. You could technically do some less aggressive (yellow lab, etc...) Africans. Africans that have been farm raised really don't require the same hard water, high PH conditions of wild Africans. Most will do fine in the same water conditions as CA/SA. My stocklist with my 12 inch Oscar is a GT, JD, Vieja Argentea, Red Terror, Jag, Godmani, Firemouth, Convicts, Midas, Trimac, and a Pleco. Only the JD, GT, Con, Godmani and FM are full grown and they do great. I would not necessarily recommend the others as adults. Mine are moving tank as soon as they let me know they need to.

Might be getting 3 fully adult albino oscars and their 60 gal tank from my sis's Bf for free. What could go in with them or is there no room left?
