You couldn't fit a true gar in that size tank. The smallest are Florida and they get to a min. of 2 feet in captivity. Plus Plecos also get large and cause a lot of waste.
Not really. A 75G wide will hold a florida gar for a while. Also the smallest gar are shortnose gar but they are way to skittish especially with the other fish in the tank. Florida gar will take a very long time to get to 24" in an aquarium but not in a 75G. Also that Pleco is a no no with Gar anyways as they can be with the polys since they are slow fish the plecos will take advantage of that and try to suck the slime coat off them.

The sevs would probably make a nice addition to that tank.

Gator-kind of agree with you but my motto is get the tank first then the fish. Hope the gar people don't read this-you may get flamed-about a Florida okay in a 75g.

I think you should get tinfoil barbs they wouldn't be a problem at all to your other fish and they're really active, the only problem you'll have is feeding them because they're always hungry..

I think a few people are not giving good advice-why add Tinfoil Barbs his tank is already overcrowded not only that Tinfoils need atleast an 18 inch wide tank and plenty of space to swim which means 125 gallon min.

a few problems. Fire eel will outgrow tank soon. Polys will eat tetras, botia will bully your clown loaches, lobster will eventually turn murderous like all other crays, and pleco will poop your tank to hell. Alligator gar is out of the question. You first have to ask yourself: "what direction do i want to head in? peaceful community? loaches? polys?"

Again, good for a 75g?

Some poor advice in this thread, listen to Onion, and do alot more research, and ask alot more questions BEFORE buying anymore fish, and something will have to change in the tank you have.

I am one of the gar people and I'll stand by what I said, a florida gar will be fine in a 75 gallon for a while. But not in that tank with the pleco.

Well, things have changed a little bit actually. The tiger lobster is gone and now there are 4 clown loaches. And by the way... a 75 gallon tank isnt too small for a fire eel, lol, that doesnt really make much sense to be honest.
