Tank mate suggestions

I'd just like some suggestions on what to keep with my Gars(Trops and Floridas) to liven up the tank a bit, because I really just can't decide.

(Yes, I know the general no-nos when it comes to certain tankmates with gars and have kept most fish-types available, which is probably the reason I can't decide)

One 5 inch Trop, and the rest are between 8-12 inches. Though I don't think size really matters, since the fish kept with them would be of the same size and grow to the same size. I'm not going to get something that can be eaten, or will pose a big threat to the gars.

The tank is a 120 gallon.

Bichirs were my first thought, actually. I just thought I'd hear some other suggestions. No Aros, they aren't very attractive to me anymore.

Yeah, I've had Gars with near everything as well, even the ones that aren't recommended, and never had problems unless one fish was small enough to eat.
 
Some options from the top of my head...

1. Lungfish

2. Stingrays (again this is hit or miss)

3. Fancy Plecos

4. Non to Semi-Aggressive Cichlids which get large enough to not be eaten

The Gars and any of the above options will eventually need a tank larger than 120Gal.

For me, gars were always one of the easiest fish to mix and got a long with anything. Kept them fine with cichla, dats, polys, aros, knives.. . Right I now have a 16" florida with a 20" aro. I would just make sure you dont' get anything you think might chase or spook the gars too much
