tank mates for a butti

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my butti has tons of tankmates. only one that seems to be a problem is my gourami, he likes chasing the butti. butti doesn't harm nobody tho in my tank. wonder why.

u should be fine, but its an agressive tank. add tankmates with the thought it may not work and have other tanks or a petstore thats ready to take it back lol

ethnics, thats because you have a 400g :P

I have a 7"er and he is a real glass banger... agressive as hell, and makes water changes nasty. in a 180g you should be okay with the fish you listed, and could probably add another cichlid or two and a nice catfish.

as i am trying more and more different type of tank mates my buttis leaves fish alone like a mosaic gar and my pike cichlid , i think i might try a barracudda

sorry cornbread, hadnt been around in awhile. he finally caught the red point and bit his head off.
the tank is a 135 and he is currently housed with a male dovii and a p. niger and a big male con. as someone suggested earlier, dovii may not be the best choice cause the butti is getting owned and compleatly sub dominant. they were divided but the butti broke down the divider. so far the dovii is not trying to kill just wants the butti to know who is boss. they will remain togather til the first of the year when i get my 300, my future dovii home. the butti will bully anything it can though. jags may be a good choice.

IT better be a big one because, he'll kill it.. Butti's have a killing clock if there not in a massive tank they will just start killing things because there bored or something, personally I wouldnt do a barracudda there not really territoral enough to mess with a butti

Opt for a low lying, scrappy catfish, oddball or cichlid. Anything that can easily fall victim to any of your cichlids will and or could wind up as prey or just a tankmate to beat upon.
