Tank mates for Black belt Cichlids ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Getting a 300Gal tank early next year for my fish , was ment to get this month but things have changed now and have to wait a little , but basicly they are all in a 120gal tank biggest been one of the Pleco at 12inch other fish are from 9inch down to 2inch , so what i am asking is - Could i get any other fish or not ? The03 Synodontis Eupterus will be staying in the 120Gal tank when i do get my 300Gal tank .

Try A Giant Gourami!!!!!!!!!

my lfs has a display tank with a blackbelt cichlid, red hook silver dollars, (with big teeth), frontosas, julies, tinfoil barbs, big clown loaches, big synodontis and some other type of cichlid. this tank is like 10x2.5x3 (estimate). another fish store has a blackbelt cichlid with a black shark, big bala sharks, rainbow sharks, very small clown loaches, three spot gouramis a moonlight gourami and a black ghost knife. that tank is an 6x2.5x2.5. they also have another blackbelt cichlid with a heap of other south and central american cichlids including over 10 uaru, green terror, jaguar cichlid, convict cichlid and some others i can't remember. that tank is a 4x2x2 and is a growout tank for another cichlid tank that is 8x2.5x2.5, that has a mix of african and american cichlids.

oh yeah if your getting a 300 gallon with good filtration you could have more fish. 300 gallon is ]V[onster

a giant gourami might not handle a blackbelt cichlids agression, they are gentle giants that eat banana

Thanks for your input they have both been in the tank together for about a month now , at first they both just fought but now over the last couple of weeks they are starting to get along now the GRFG is abit damaged because if the Black belt but is get better each day . :)

Any thoughts people on if i can fit anymore fish in without been over stocked ?

I think as long as your filter can handle the load you could get away with maybe 2 more additions. Just always keep in mind the eventual growout size of them all.
