I keep a pair of redhead tapajos 7.5", 1 dicrozoster male 7" and a female 6" with a school of 36 tiger barbs, loaches, rapheal cats and 4 line cats with no problems. I have sand in my tank and the geos shift through that when eating. My tank is a 135g and imo I think that's a little too crowded. My pair had bred 3x already since acquiring them a few months back. Geo's are a great center piece.
How are the barbs with the long trailing fins?

I would not keep barbs with long flowing finned Geophagines for two reasons.
They can be nippy, reducing Geo fins to nubs.
And the other reason is because I am anal about being geographically correct, barbs being Asian or African, Geo's being new world Americans. I'm a bit of a purist wanting my display tanks to be realistic.

I keep my 7 geo Tapajos with my 5 IT dats and they all get along. I have not had any issues since I’ve had them together.
