But it has to be in the water to find its way on the glass. UV= not in water so not on glass.

It won't keep algae from growing on the glass.

I use a UV in my 1500 gallon tank, and it keeps the water clear, but I have plenty of algea growth on the sides of my tank. It would be even more so with glass because of the light.

I priced a UV light at Jacks for $229, forgot what wattage it was, they had a smaller one as well, 70 watts I think.

Do you recall what brand it was?

I recommend Aqua UltraViolet. It's the same as the Emporer brand, but cheaper in price.

I have a large glass door walkout to my backyard opposite the only place I could put my 150g tank.

so what I did was install vertical blinds:

when you want to go outside, or brighten up the room, you just open them or angle them to let some light in.

they are perfect.

Thats what I have right now, the tank is about 20 feet from the window currently and its not a problem. If I cut that in half, thats when problems start.

If the side and part of the back is covered closest to where the light is coming in at, I don't see why there would be a large issue that a pleco or other fish couldn't take care of.
