Like Rallysman I also use Poll filter sand in all my tanks. I buy it at the local Pool store for $7.50 for a 50lb bag. Play sand clouds up too much and takes forever to clean. With pool filter sand I just dump it in directly from the bag.

i got that sand from petsmart... its really difficult to clean, the sand gets sucked up and most of the waste sitting on top of it will not get picked up by the syphon
Yeah I have had that issue as well, the crap still sits on the top most of the time I try and get it close enough but the sand gets sucked up quiet a bit I dont mind but its a pain in the ass I love sand and would like to put it in my 60 gallon but its a ***** to clean....any ideas? is pool sand heavier?
do any major retail stores carry the colorquartz......i couldnt find anywhere on their website to search state by state to find which places carry it

I used black tahitian moon sand in my tank and really like the way it looks, It's also heavy enough that it does not get sucked up very easy. Not as cheap as pool sand and some others but it is a nice black color and works well...
