Tank setup help needed please.

Sounds like the well is the way to go then. Hope you have a strong back! My problem with the float method is the chance of water from the creek contaminating the main tank. Chances are you'll be fine though.

So I should go all 75 gal of well water no creek water? I was only thinking that using creek water could speed up the cycling process. But I didn't think about unwanted parasites. I will have to make 2 trips for the water since I have 5 good buckets with lids and 3 water jugs.

Alright I have a couple of new questions. I went to a landscape yard and picked up 60lbs of canyon cobblestones (aka river rock since it is smooth and mostly round) and 20lbs of rough cobblestone (looks like rough granite). Would these types of rock be safe in my tank? And does anyone know a good and cheap place to get driftwood? The lfs prices are way to high for a small piece of wood. And I would like to get a piece that is small to fit thru the top but large enough to be a nice center piece.

Those rocks should be fine. In terms of finding cheap driftwood... the lake maybe. Store prices are crazy. Using creek water won't really speed up the cycle much as the bacteria your looking for is found in gravel and filter media (the water will help, just not sure if it is worth the extra work). A good way to "jumpstart" would be to borrow a used filter from an established, healthy tank. Or get some gravel from another tank.

Would it be safe if I use driftwood from the creek that I am going to try to catch and stock my tank with? IF yes, all I need to do is take a saw with me and cut what I need.

Should be safe if the creek is clean. Put the wood you bring home in a seperate water-filled container at first and let it soak there for a week or so. Change the water often. This will ensure that any pollutants that the wood may have picked up have a chance to leach out.

What K rating are you lights because the K rating may be the wrong spectrum for freshwater plants. I know that the colour spectrum on my planted tank and reef tank are very different because both setups require a differen K rating.

I am running 2 65 watt 10,000k bulbs and 2 65 watt 6700k bulbs. Ok, now I just need to finish getting the hardware setup so I can start getting the livestock for the tank.

A note on local driftwood...you might want to set it out in the sun for 2-3 days and let it dry. This will get rid of any water born parasites that may have been attached to it in the creek. Then a soak as the other guy mentioned in a seperate container before you add it.
