Tank size & dimentions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A 6x3x3 is only 40-50gals larger then a
8x2x2......

Point is shoals over 10 or so can be housed in decent sized tanks and be fine, as long as minimum requirements are meant the 20gal per fish rule doesnt exactly apply. Thats saying you can only put 25 rbp in a 500gallon tank or 50 rbp in a 1000gallon tank which is false.

Ive seen zoo and educational centers with much more piranhas and pacus per gallon because the basic large footprint is there.

BTW try not to talk down to a senior member who has contributed a ton to this site and is very informed and educated in the hobby. That just makes you look arorgant, just like all your 'black piranha' hate threads!

aaa
what you say is for 20 Ps, 8*2*2 is ok ?
very experienced person ))) LOL

If you dont wanna argue, why did you go to some other threads and talked about this ? ))))
I said i gave enough room from my Ps. for 20 Ps of course my tank is not enough. You cant even understand that after 7 years of Piranha keeping.
I'm telling need to give them enough room, so 8*2*2 not enough at all for 20 reds. If someone say 8*2*2 enough for 20 reds, it's a JOKE ))))
I have a friend who has Piranas for 16 years and they are 16 years old. 20g is the minimum for an adult piranha, But more is better.
8*2*2 tank doesn't fulfill the requirement at all for 20 Ps.
No offense, but you are wrong about this.
If you talk to anyone that's been in the hobby for some time, they will tell you their keeping fish by the books and their is trial and error keeping. Keeping fish by the books is looking up info from online pages from people that might not even kept the fish befor, it's good for beginners but one you get the fish for your self it turns into trial and error. That's when the real lernning starts. If your such a big shot than you should know the best temp to keep reds at is high 60s *f. This slows the fishes atablisem down so they don't constantly fin nip and kill/ eat each other. The books tell you 75- 80 but the warmer the water the more they move and the need to eat. I bet you know that tho. That's the stuff you learn keeping them by experience. All I said is if you state something then that means that you go with it as well, not do what I say and not as I do.

Wait wait wait. Maybe its because I never keep piranhas, but 20 rbps, meaning 20 foot long fish? There is no way I'll put 20 foot long fish in a tank only 2 feet wide. I would personaly think a 6x3 would be better. But hey, I never have and probably never will keep piranhas.

Lol that escalated quickly.

Man, rain21 really knows how to ruffle some feathers..lol

I would love to see pics of the finished product OP!!
