was wondering how many if any green terror i could keep in my 75 gal tank.
Right now i only have a parrot and some other cichlid that i can't remember it's name. These can be moved as i would like to have a school of gt's in there
Any ideas
mike

btw
parrot 4.5 inches
other cichlid 2 inches

just now did a search for the other cichlid and i am pretty dang sure it is a convict

in a 75, you can keep a pair, but if the pair is both males, beware...you might have some fighting, but if you keep your eye on it you should be fine with 2...

If only 2 can be kept How about a school of convicts

I believe and many members here will agree that the GT makes a spectacular solo showpiece. Get a male GT and keep him in there by himself and his colors will amaze you. Don't risk putting any other fish in with him that may cause ripped fins and injury. I have kept several GT'S with several other large cichlids and they seem to be trouble makers which more times then not causes them to get ripped fins. But when they are not ripped up there colors are unmatched IMO. Trust me if you keep one large male in your 75 you won't be disapointed....Also drop the idea of a schoal of convicts, not only are they ruthless tail nippers but they will breed to no end and cause you all kinds of problems in a tank that small.

Hey jack So what else should i keep with him my parrot and a single convict?

Just Listen, i've worked around GT's for sometime now and i know where you are coming from wanting to have as many fish as possible in your 75 but you will find out real quick that with keeping aggressive cichlids that they like to nip and chase each other alot. A GT will get to around 10-12" and a convict will top out at 5" tops so at full grown the GT will present a problem. At the juvenile stage convicts are far more aggressive then GT'S so his fins will surely be ripped. As far as a parrot they go better with other parrots IMO. If you want a GT the best advice i could give you would be to get a male and leave it solo. It might seem boring at first while he's small but once he gets big you will love him to death and never regret leaving him solo. If you want a tank with more fish may i suggest doing a less aggressive species like an Oscar and some Red Hook silver dollars....

planted community tank........youre gonna have your monsters in the wall:D
