Tank too large for freight lift gate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can guarantee they put a forklift fork into it at some point. Freight terminal forklift operators give zero f's about freight. I've received freight transfer pianos with forks blown thru the soundboards multiple times.

How many pianos do you have delivered?
Yes, the driver called me to confirm delivery time and he was much more knowledgable than the scheduling assistant about the process. He said it is coming on a 53' lift gate truck and the lift gate is 8' wide, so he needed some help turning it on the lift gate was all. I told him my wife and I are both home and he said between the three of us, it should be plenty of help. Luckily it is acrylic and the full, palleted item only weighs 370lbs. My last glass tank was a 6' 210 and that think weighed every bit of 400lbs empty with nothing else, so I am hoping this one is way better.

Thanks again guys, will update with pics later!

I feel your pain with the glass tank weight. I got an old school O'Dell 220, 6x2x2.5H, and it was made out of some thick glass. It weighed 550lbs completely empty.

They gave me the option of keeping it and still waiting for another one, but I’ve not had good luck in the past with keeping broken things and trying to sell them and I definitely don't have room for a second one if I was able to fix it. I stripped all the internals out, 30+ gallons of bio balls, the lids, the pumps, drip trays, etc and refused delivery of it. I didn't really want it sitting in my garage and I don't really have the time to experiment with cutting it up and trying to fix it. If I lived somewhere that had a bigger fish-keeping presence, I probably would have kept it and given it to someone who couldn't afford one and wanted to try and fix it, but I don't.

Man that had to be a let down. Hopefully the manufacturer can make good on the 2 week commitment. Who is the builder?

I hope so! We were ready to get rolling with it after waiting 6+ weeks!
Advance Aqua Tanks in Los Angeles, it’s a “Clear for Life” tank.

Not to derail your thread but you mind giving specifics on the tank. Looks like you did an internal sump instead of having it outside the display tank. Curious on the logic and specs.
