you should add like one big driftwood. it would make your fish more secure and would look nice with the sand.

just give them something to hide in/behing. Piranhas are skittish. They usually need a hide when they're young. Some people may disagree. RBP's as a whole are incredibly hardy though, I don't know if stress alone would kill them.
The only piranha I've ever heard of stressing to death is S. manueli.

Maybe pick up several clay flowerpots of various sizes from HD until you can afford to scape the tank?

that's what I was thinking too.

Driftwood is expensive my friend :o

Maybe I will just go to my LFS and try to find some cheap rocks. I've some rocks that are around 1-2 bucks in there.

^ Personally if you don't have lights i would stay away from plants for the moment... instead focus on using rocks/driftwood which doesn't require any light... and if budget is a problem, maybe you could goto a creek and see if you can pick up some driftwood/rocks for your tank?

Do what I do..Go to a river near you home and walk the shore, you will either have to rig to stay down or soak it in a trash can for about a month or until the buoyancy is reduced...I have qt least 500.00 in driftwood in my garage.I cant afford what the pet stores want either so I find my own wood and rocks..

finding wood from your local river/lake is one way of doing it, sometimes you may find some wood with very unique shape. I'm planning doing that when weather gets better, too damn cold now to go near any river/lake around where I live.

Umm yeh, I would go collect some driftwood and fancy rocks if it wasnt frozen ;]

But, how could I get it to stay down without soaking it in water for a month?
