You can keep a florida/spotted in there till it reaches 18"... which would take a long time..

How long is that more or less?

florida/spotted (most of these are florida gars, spotted gars are very rare in the market) are the smallest and easiest species of gar to keep. alot of people will also suggest tropical given that they reach about the same size as FL/spots but trops are far more rare and expensive. and a 180-200g should house a few FL/spots for life.

not sure but the name sounds like a cichlid species. if it is gars and cichlids are a bad combo.
