TANKED NEW SEASON!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought it said 2 months. Wow my bad, if you dont like their show then why talk about it all day? And if your family runs the ortho office why did u have them set up their stuff to begin with?

Hmmm.

I wonder why there arent any pics of this or the fish if your family works there? Personally if i was on the set of a tv show with fish and a 2000 gallon tank id take vids and pics, and if your so smart then you should have known the compatibility of the fish to begin with!

If you watched the episode you saw that they got the sharks from a person who they built a tank for and sold them the same sharks and 2 years later all of his stock was alive.

If all u can do is complain about them and not help the fish idk where this thread is going. Imo there isnt any shows about fw or sw fish keeping/aquarium building! I think the idea is awesome and the tanks are very nice.

The only thing thats silly is constanly complaining and not doing a damn thing! Oh and the previews have been on for 2+ months of the new season, so saying there will be a ortho tank does not prove anything!

Tanks are awesome/their knowledge of FK is horrible

Again with the lack of reading, Point of my post was that I did like the show, and the guys...prior to what I witnessed. I talk about it to let people know what happened, as I wouldnt have known, and its kinda what we are here on MFK for, sharing our opinions and expierences. Couple of my family members work at the office they dont run the office, and I didnt have them or the office do anything. I was invited a year in advance to be a part of the expierience, the Dr was exited as anyone would be.

I did watch the episode, that guy BOUGHT a tank from them-
1. He was never on the show = free tank
2. Any assumtions about him or his tank would be just that
3. Considering his stock was alive, I would assume the tank was given the appropiate amount of time to set up prior to adding the fish.

I didnt take pics of filming because im not a groupy, pics of the cast dont interest me, and Im not into saltwater setups. I will get pics or video from my sister wich I already requested. I never claimed to be " smart " and I dont know much of anything about saltwater fish, I have been keeping cichlids my whole life.

I never disputed the idea behind the show. Only stated facts that I know to be true, complaining is the only "damn thing" I can do. This is not my tank or my fish, I have no say or control over the situation.

I never said the tank wasnt awsome, I would throw every vieja I could get my hands on in it. In stead of disputing things I never claimed and createing a fictitional rationality in your own mind just take my statements for what they are. My opinion and how it was changed by my expierience. Your belief cannot change these facts.

In the words of ATM they create" complete turn key setups, with life support system"

all of "reality" TV is 98% staged. I have many personal friends who work in that industry on and off the camera. (Why do you think they have writers in the credits?) It doesn't really bother me. I enjoy watching the tank builds and installations either way.

Exactly!

Its a tv show, what do you expect!

Anything on tv is somewhat staged, even river monsters has its moments. Anything that has fish and tanks on tv is entertaining imo

I watched this show last night. I love to custom builds. Thank you so much for sharing about what happend behind the sceens. It seems to me that their would be an agiency monitering the treatment of the animals. I thought all tv shows had to have someone looking out for the animals. I mean the shut down that tv on HBO about horse racing because 3 horses died.

Maybe if we all sent letter to animal planet about our concerns for the fish, they would do a better job establishing the tank.

Ill keep watching with a critical eye. (Pluse the red head NY wife is hot. I love a NY woman.)

Does anyone know of any other shows baised around fish? I watched a trailer for a show where two guys serch out common aquarium fish in their natural habitat.

This is a extreamly important thread.

Animal planet has slid in programming for years. I remember when the show on there and discovery had actual informational value. I like the idea of a show about tanks but i wont help the ratings simply because there isnt another show on like it yet.

I watched he show last night and have seen all of the previous episodes. That sucks hearing about all of the fish and rays that died in that tank for no better reason than making a good shot. I'm sure tha. The guy who gave up he sharks would be heartbroken to know what happened to several years of his dedication.

Through all of the episodes I have tuned out the "made for tv drama", I've always been more interested in the builds anyway. The custom fridge tank for an appliance store is awesome, as well as the jukebox for the diner. I think we can still appreciate that they do know their stuff when it comes to building.

I did think it was funny how they told the guys that a pleco eats algae and uneaten food on the bottom, all I could think about was the member here with the janitor pleco avi.

Also, congrats to the OP for winning the tank, hope they hook you up good.

Your welcome

I doubt any agency would do anything, the fish become the property of the tank owner. Dont think most people think of fish as anything more than a meal. Although creating publicity and hurting the reputation of the show could possibly create a situation resulting in the tanks being better established and more concern for the health of the fish. I would partake in any proactive solution to better the show for the wellbeing of the animals involved.

Just so everyone knows Im not against the show or ATM's tank building capabities. Its good programming for an under recognized hobby. Im just dissapointed with the owners and thier lack of empathy for the fish and thier clients.

All redheads are hot imo, not just ny kers

more bad publicity imo for the hobby/ owners of fish... how fish should be any different then dogs or cats is assanine imo... anyone who thinks these guys are " doing good" for the hobby of fishkeeping itself is silly imo. do they do great builds? yes.. but thats like saying someone makes a cool catbox... cant deny these guys do interest custom builds.. but ive seen better on this site by random joes... and the true beauty of their builds are they sustain life! no stock list is bomb proof but the treatment of the life these guys blatently abuse disgusts me and has since i saw their first episode... many of the fish ive seen are wild caught adult specimins in questionably sustainable habitats.

i make sad face... they have the opportunity to truely educate... but theyde rather be "cool". poor form...
