tankmate for bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
silver dollars, bichirs are bottom dwellers so why crowd the bottom..if you want a top dweller gor for aro's , if its a mid tank dweller try a clown knife...

cool setup u have bro ... what sizes of your bichir ? endi is my next project
soon .... dont have weeksi here in Phil wish i have one ..
My bichirs are from 3" all the way to 9" in tank. Normally, this community would not work but I guess I just got lucky. I heard silver dollars are bad with bichirs due to their fin nipping habits.

archers and Monos good idea bro .. thanks i will visit LFS here when I last visited LFS they have stocks of Archers and Monos ...

archers and monos do best in a brackish setup. apistos, rams, and kribs could become dinner especially with the bigger species like the ornate. silver dollars are good tank mates. never seen my trio of SD nip or even come close to touching my bichirs. ctenopomas and dats are also good mid-dwelling tankmates. since your in the phil I would personally go with an asian aro for my top dweller.

monos and archers are all brakish species and can live in FW, but they need brakish water as they grow older..

and as for ARO eating a poly?! common sense you put 2 fish of the same size...even a full size silver aro in an aquarium set up cannot eat a full grown endli, ornate..

apistos,rams and kribs= dinner as IS300 said

An Aro will overgrow some of his bichirs, didn't you read his tank setup?some of his bichir doesn't grow upto a size of an endli and an ornate,it may be possible but it is still risky in the long run(maybe 2-3 years) ....FYI monos & archers can live in freshwater for life

yeah in 2-3 years provided that theyare still alive or still in the same tank by then..no doubt monos and archers can live in FW but that doesnt mean it wont be better in brakish cause that is the natural set up for the species and i was answering his post about monos and archers being FW and that they are brakish to begin with..and yes i have kept monos, archers and scats if that is your next question..and have kept a brakish tank

but enough of that whatever tankmate ghost picks good luck with it:D , these are only suggestions..i'm out
