ok thanks i will keep an eye on the big green hehe!

and about the population?
i wanna go up to about 5 greens 7 pumpkins and 3 oscars
is this ok for a 200g tank?
That should be good for the Sunfish for life......Oscars get a little bigger than sunfish and with that amount of sunnies IMHO the tank will be too small when your Oscars get about 16inches.

You might have territorial problems when everyone is full grown, but you should be fine until then. The greens will definitely rule the tank. Make sure to post pics of the tank when it's done. :D

OK nice i will give that a try!
how far do i need to cool them down?
and can my oscars stand the cool water tempeture?

the stores here sell pumpkinseeds in summertime
but sometimes a green or hybrid mixes up whit them
so its just a mather of luck i guess :D

I kept my greens at room temp. (68 degrees winter, 80 in the summer) and they did fine ( out here where theyre from it gets below freezing in the winter to mid 80s water temps in the summer).

but is there a quiker way to breed them?
cuz i rlly like the green sunfish
but its kinda hard to find them in my country
i found 3 in 2 years and two of them are probely some kind of weird green/war hybrid

btw is it poseble to spawn green/pumpk hybrids?

and when they spawn do you have to remove all other fish?
cuz the only other place i can put them in is my bath tub :D

No.....cool temps then gradually raising and increasing feeding to simulate spring is the only way I know. They will become very aggressive after breeding (and right before) its best to get a divider if you dont have any other tanks. Yes Sunnies will hybridize....but the hybrids are most often sterile or male.

ok cool
but i dont think its wise to cool the tank down when the oscars are in it
the temps are around 70F now

what is the best way to cool your tank down btw?

I had mine at room temp. so it naturally cooled down and warmed up,...but using a digital thermometer and raising it every three days a degree will work (if the temp is already in the upper 60s to lower 70s). Oscars can live in temps down to the upper 50s for small periods of time (theyre breeding pops in central Florida).

ok thanks
i am thinking of filling the aquarium with 6 liters of ice cold water each 2 hours or so
i think this should cool the aquarium down in a slow pase..
is this a good idea or will this shock my fish?

my big green in in a spot behind a few roots
and he is gaurding that place like ****!
every fish that swims near him gets it
is he gaurding a nest?
i cant see annything that looks like eggs or somthing
but ive never seen him so agressive
