The pickerel in that tank is 12 inches long, a 6 inch pickerel would not last 20 seconds in there. But my point is that under the right circumstances, pickerel can be kept with many fish. Though I highly recommend not keeping them with bass, heck I highly recommend not keeping anything with bass.:)

Yea yea I know:p ! Well atleast I know now...I think if I end up making a pond I am going to try a chain pickerel with some gar maybe...:naughty: . And either they will have to deal with the bass or he will go outside.

Ooops sory chad, I forgot about your bass/pickerel incident. I was speaking from my own experience, at one time there was a 10 inch SMB in this mix, and it was not a good thing. It wasn't even the bass's aggression that was so bad, it was his ultra high energy level. The bass is no longer in the tank, and I will probably never keep another.

Well I have heard that SMB are alot worse than LMB. My bass is the most chill fish I have ever had! He is so calm he will slowly swim up to my hands when I am feeding him and gently tug the food from my hand and just swim off into a corner to eat some more. He is a good fish...I can't imagine him trying to take on any fish that are as big/bigger than him.

So the redfin is in a 150g, that would be 24" wide, you could go with a young highfin carpsucker, they grow fairly slowly, mooneyes, lake chubsuckers, spotted suckers, smallfin redhorse, and peamouths would all probably work with an adult redfin.
I tried not to list ones that were already listed.

I'm going to get a grass pickerel instead since I can get it my self and the thank is 18" wide.

Redfin and grass are basically the same fish...IMHO grass are a bit tougher but I don't think there is any kind of info to actually prove that. Grass pickerel could go with the same fish a redfin can. Oh and be careful with your pickerels. They are nasty little guys! Mine has bitten the back of my hand a few times trys to kill the net everytime he sees it and actually drew blood on my brother the other day:ROFL: . Oh yea and don't put anything valuable next to the tank...mine LOVES to splash water all over the room! I think you are really going to enjoy your pickerel. They are alot more owner responsive than you would think.

Hmmm, that makes it a bit harder as most of the fish I listed get a bit to large for an 18" wide tank.

Just keep about 5 pickerel in it alone...you won't be dissapointed! Believe me!

I think it would be awsome to keep five pickerels but my Mom doesn't. That's why I posted this thread. I think I'll try give ing Oddball's idea of the chance of orangespots as my Mom likes those. Do you guys think it would work. Guppy, do you hve any other ideas?
