How is my stock looking if I have the 2 O's, Pictus, 5 SD's and common plec (6-7 inch at the moment)? I have the 1000l/ph internal that comes with the Juwel Rio 400 and I'll also be using the Eheim 2233 from my old tank to save cycling, will this work?
Watch out for that Juwel pump. It "clogs" easily and stops. Not very effective. I've gotten rid of the Juwel original internal filter and I use only external filtration now. It was way to big (I think it's as big as 25 liters) and not very efficient. There are around 8 to 10 points of silicone between the filter and the glass. Use a cutter...
i have to say at full size your tank will be overstocked and it will be a battle just to keep nitrates in sensible limits,i kept 3 adult oscars in a 125 gallon with other various fish and eventually had to move one when the other 2 paired up,you really need a minimum of 150 gal (6x2x2) for all these fish but bigger is better,oh and 400litres is 88 uk gallons
There might be UK gallons but we're talking US here since the vast majority of members are from US. If the filtration is up to those fish I'm not sure if there's any serious problem. I think he can manage it.
Thanks for the advice guys, I will get rid of the internal eventually but I have just spent £400 getting this set up and if I spend any more my GF will kill me so the new external will have to wait.
I was netting the SD's to put in the new tank last night and the Pictus swam right into the net and got his barbs tangled up in there so I had to very carefully cut the net away so I'll be forking out for a new net too.
Here is the tank as it looks now:
It looks very bare and I don't like the line of rocks along the back but I need something there to hide the joints in the backing.

he's talking uk gallons that's what it says, besides the point i still feel that it would be over stocked when their all at full size but that's my opinion and everyone feels differently about things but the welfare of the fish is more important
