Coura, what could you suggest that could work together in a large but not huge enclosure? Something like a 180 or so gallon tank?
You could do a medium lizard combo. In a planted terrarium that size you could easily keep a trio of one male and 2 females of for example jamaican anoles Anolis garmani or the mouth drooling Anolis alisoni (both are way cooler then greens) and for the nigth sheft white lined geckos Gekko vittatus. All are relatively good temper lizards that would get along, have very good looks and would feacture a interesting terrarium.

Hmm...I'm curious about doing at least one inhabitant that would be semi-aquatic. If I wanted to base the vivarium around Crocodile Skinks, what could work with them? Fish, frogs, geckos, any suggestions are greatly appreciated?

OR would it be at all possible to mix any lizards with a water snake? I had previously assumed this would be impossible since, you know...Snake, but it seems like others have talked about doing this before with positive encouragement. I would assume that anything that goes into the enclosure with it would have to be relatively girthy to avoid being eaten, but would there be anything that would work?

Rough green snakes are insectavorius(dont know if thats spelled right). They can be kept with small frogs and lizards. I plan on doing a terrarium with green snakes, anoles and treefrogs sometime soon.

Most watersnakes would happily devour frogs or lizards kept in the tank with them.

The only way I can imagine that working is with a watersnake that is a dietary specialist, such as one of the crayfish-eating Regina species, the salamander-eating Farancia abacura, or the eel-eating F. erytrogramma. Of course these specialized snakes are far more difficult to keep than typical water snakes, and are seldom available in the trade.

You also must consider that many terrestrial species are prone to drowning, so having a pool in the terrarium may not work well.

If I did a semi-aquatic enclosure I wouldn't put anything in that didn't know how to deal with the water. From videos that I've seen most water snakes wouldn't be able to handle eating a Croc Skink, would it still try to though?

Why do you say they would be unable to handle a crocodile skink? Water snakes happily prey on spiny fish such as catfish, sculpins, etc. I don't see why a rough-skinned lizard would be any different. And yes, they probably would try to eat it.

I just figured it'd be too big. Well so much for that idea...I'll have to spend some time thinking about this, thanks all for the advice/opinions, hopefully this'll all turn into something real sooner or later!

I know this has to be getting annoying by now, but I did have one more thought and figured I might as well post it - what about possibly combining a water snake with an aquatic turtle, like an FRT? If there's any chance it would work I would do it with an elephant trunk snake, the fully aquatic species. I know that fish wouldn't really survive with either of those two, but would they get along, or at least leave each other alone?
