When building my tanks in the basement I went though that same thought and idea, needed a reason to spend time down stairs with the fish, so the fish room is also the computer room, I spend most of my days on the computer either doing school work or other stuff and all my tanks are in the same room.
Makes it nice as I can always look over at one of the tanks or if I hear something and they are much more involved in my life. Also makes it so I want to maintain them really well as i am always looking at them. My wife has her computer setup in the other room and more tanks in there plus where I keep all the food and everything else. We spend more time in our basement now than in the rest of our house. But also we are both full time students and do a lot of our computers.
