Tannin question

I find that using a drill and drill small holes deep into the DW at parts where it would be hidden at its final position helps in getting the wood water logged faster. Since those holes are hidden (etc the bottom), they wont destory the looks of the DW.

I've never had any problems with having any of my driftwood in my tanks sink. I also didn't have any tannin problems eventhough I did sort of like the colors when I did have tannin in some of my tanks. What I did to get rid of most of the tannin was to boil the wood. I believe also that boiling the wood made the water go into the driftwood so that's why they sank. With my larger pieces of driftwood that wouldn't completely fit into my pot, I would boil half of it for an hour, pour out the water, turn the wood around and boil the other side. Hope this helps, The Doctor

If you want it to stay at the bottom in a hurry. Go and get a big peice of slate. And drill a few holes in it. You can get plastic screws at lowes. flip over the drift wood pre drill the holes in the dw were you need them and then drill the slate to it with the plastic screws. If you like the tanning look. You can get black water extract in a bunch of different places. I have used it plenty of times used to use it on my arow tank. And put it in when i did water changes and doubles as a water treatment. It makes the water darker and like a grey shape not a red or maroon shape like the drift wood does thow. The fish low it Mellows um out a bit in my exspereince. Not trying to dereal your thread just giving you a heads up. Been wanting to order some pieces of that from him my self good pick up enjoy
