Tarantula beginner - what should I get?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I move many of my more aggressive species with a cup and a chopstick (rarely, if ever, freehandle), so I don't thinking "handling" is really a necessary skill for tarantula keeping per se. It's always good to be familiar, of course, but t's are so hands-off, anyway, I don't think it matters much (I'm aware that's just my personal opinion, though).
Good points.

I didn't like the way her 28 gallon looked because there were calcium deposits or some type of spots all over the glass. It was also a pain to take the crappy top off for feeding and misting. I went and got her a 12x12x18 zoo med terrarium. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks, and I don't have all that waisted space anymore. .lol. I'll post up a new thread a little later. I had a low wattage heat lamp on the old one, but I've read that they are fine at room temp, so im not using the lamp.

same one I ditched the 10 gallon for. To keep the humidity a bit higher, I put a piece of plexi over part of the top but enough to keep good circulation. I have a heat pad for mine, but it doesn't heat it up much.

Ok. I might have to cover some of the top as well. I need to get another hydrometer to see what's up.
