Target fish

Hi guys,
I have a question about target fish, been searching but can't find the answer.
I have 190 with
-Amphilophus Amarillo
-Midas
-Blackbelt
-Jack Dempsey pair
-3 Green Terrors
Aggression is getting worse and it's mainly my Blackbelt who is getting into trouble the whole time, but the Midas as well. The Amarillo and Dempsey are the 2 dominating fish.
Will target fish work in this siuation, because my Green Terrors and the Jack Dempsey female are ignored by my Amarillo and Dempsey male, so I have a feeling they will just ignore the target fish and keep doing what they are doing.

You could try a few cons, being the new guys they should take the brunt of the aggression and replace the Blackbelt at the bottom of the totum pole. It's possable the other fish is hell bent on getting rid of the Blackbelt as a potential threat and the cons will be ignored. You could also try rearanging the the whole tank to redefine terratorial boundries.

I'm Not sure what you mean target fish but i added some big male convicts as dither fish and that really help my tank with aggression

Target fish are used for aggression problems, dithers fish are used for shy cichlids, but a lot of people just call them all dithers.
How many fish do you have in your tank? I was thinking about convicts but my problem is I really don't know if that is going to solve the problem since the Amarillo and Dempsey ignore the other small cichlids.

It was 3 fish the texas 8" or so, GT 6-7" and a Dempsey 5-6".
the texas was beating everything so i put up a add for large male con's and got 4 of they 4-6". everything is alright for now the biggest con will still charge my texas from time to time even with the beatings he gets

Two dozen Cardinal Tetras........A breeding pair of convicts will only produce territory issues.........I'd stick with getting 3 FEMALE convicts..........But the Cardinal Tetra move is more colorful and more movement.......

Yea with that stock a con would definately be my first thought as well

I guess I can always give convicts a try, just have a feeling it won't work cause they ignore small cichlids.
Cardinals? they will get eaten for sure.

He needs target fish, not feeder fish lol. Color and movement are not what he's looking for. The female convict idea is worth considering. Personally, I think a shoal of Silver Dollars would would be better. They don't stake out territory and are non-aggressive. IME they make excellent target fish. I took mine out one time and the fish all fought like crazy, when I put them back in it stopped. Very weird...

I can't figure out why a group of SD's dispells so much of the fighting but they did with mine. I seriously believe you would be better off with them than adding more cichlids to an already rowdy group.
