Yep, completely removed and allowed to heal over. They have no eyes... it's disturbing. ...and they're popular buys which makes it worse, ugh.

ffs, why would anyone buy a blind fish? Especially one that had its eyes REMOVED! I'd love to catch one of these people and stick a hot poker in their eye and see how the like it.

I agree that many people that would buy fish like this don't realize that the fish are cruely mutilated. I remember me and my bro were going to buy a 'Blueberry Oscar' once cause we thought it was cool to find a blue Oscar, but luckily we were smart enough to research it online first.

The stupid stupid things people do to animals to make money knows no bounds:screwy:

It is so pointless, and I really hope anybody who thinks about doing any of these half-wit things to there fish has some major second thoughts about it.

on a serious note though, is there anything we can do as a community to stop the mutilating of fish? im in, just tell me where to start, aside from burning the guys house down of course. well, maybe, but i would need to borrow a ski mask.

it seems to me that, short of committing a serious crime, the best we can do as a community is spread the knowledge we have about these poor fish so more people know its cruel and encourage people to voice their disapproval through their wallets.

i am all for that. but unfortunately, the people we would need most to connect with are the average consumer. most of the people we know in the hobby are the people who already know that these are horrible practices. i for one just dont have the time to stand in front of the store with a sign telling everyone who walks in how bad it is.

what needs to be done is banning the practice all together. there must be some organization that controls this type of thing. who is it and how do we get them to stop this. i believe that the best defense is a strong offense.

ok, sorry to make this post so serious. i just bothers me that animals get treated so badly. i think it is fine to keep pets as long as you try to provide them with a healthy relaxed environment to thrive in, but this is ridiculous. how long do you think tattooing or piercing a cat or dog would last? or deliberately cutting out a poodles eyes to sell it as a blind cave south african pygmy elephant.
