TDS Readings

Hi All,

I did a search for this but couldn't find what I was looking for... I tested my water for the first time for TDS, I got a reading of 480ppm ... is this normal? what is an ideal reading?

I have 2 x Motoro's and an Asian Arowana, will either of these be affected by the reading?
 
Well Sam my TDS is much higher than yours and my fish/rays do great. I wouldn't let it concern you too much.
 
i would class 480ppm as high

after my HMA the TDS is 260

iim running one drip of pure HMA water into the tank with TDS of 250-260 then another drip of the HMA to a di resin chamber then from that into the tank

so 2 drip pipes into the tank one with tds 260 the di resin drip is 0ppm with new resin then after one week it goes up to about 60ppm i normally change the resin after 10 days

the water does look better

even pure RO will have a tds 0-5ppm

im going to run t6he di resin for a few months to see but it is expencive £5 per litre so about £20 per month to run
 
I might be looking at this wrong. Are you testing your tank's water or the incoming 'clean' water you are going to use for a water change??
