Tea Coloured Water - HELP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont mind the tea colour either, but my tea colour is a very very dark tea colour - which personally i dont like so much.

The wood is still in the tank, however its too big to boil. My tank is 230gal 6ft (2.5ft in height) and I dont have a pot big enough for it.

The LFS told me that it was boiled and soaked when I got it, but it had been out of the tank - he told me only after I bought it that the water may be so dark because the wood had been out of the water long enough to dry up and if that happens apparently it releases tannins all over again.

Is that true? I wouldve thought once the tannins are realeased and the water isnt so dark anymore, that even if you dry it, it shouldnt be as bad.

Never met an Aussie that didn't enjoy a cup o tea, mate!

even soaking it in very hot water will speed things along, use the bath tub.

i had one that leached all last summer, finally cleared up, got sick of it put it in the garage, just pulled it out again and its leachin once again.

now i store all my driftwood in those plastic storage things, underwater in the basement. wifes really gonna think i lost it when she opens one of them.

I luv knowing Im never the only person to just put the wood in to find out I needed to soak it LOL

I didnt mind the dark water either but it can be scarry when its your 1st time and the water goes from crystal to tea. of course now I know and let other who I help set up know, soak by changin the water for a few days til its mostly clear.

after some wc i used Acurrel F which helped out, i get my water color from painted tops now.
