Technically and theoretically speaking, what can be kept with dovii that aren't other cichlids?

Not to hijack your thread but I was going to ask a theoretical question like this, what about micro fish with a full grown dovii? A large school in the aquarium first then add the dovii in last, raised on pellets, lot of sight breaks.
Yep, extremely small fast swimming fish with a (full grown) dovii could be done. Especially schooling species would work wonder. There's a risk of a few being eaten though. If said species could breed on the tank on their own, then that's not a problem.

Hey OP, that’s an idea.

I think I’ll try it. Any suggestions because I heard embers would work.

Any extremely small tetra should be fine. Lots of covers and plants though(plants should work unless the dovii has never been kept with any plant in its entire life.)
Have you actually kept these fish before? I don’t know anyone including myself who’s actually kept them that would recommend small tetras and plants with a large specimen such as dovii. Sure adding any schooling tetra would be great for from the perspective of a large predator but not so much with regards to what will be essentially expensive feeder fish.

Yeah, a full grown male dovii will probably ignore small fish(an inch or less) that wouldn't even fill his belly and hard to catch, which is a waste of energy. That's also why I said this has its own risk.
