I really hate to hear he is not being prompt... My exchange with him went perfect. Have you gotten him yet?

yes i got her wednesday =] shes beautiful.. shy very very shy... and he actually did ship it out monday he called my cell phone and left the tracking number in my voice mail. i told him i broke my cell guess he forgot lol

but yeah he did exactly what he said, id buy from him again!

so to get her used to me i have basically just keeping my hands around her inside the tank and gently petting and touching her. am i doing this the correct way? i dont wanna stress her out and make matters worse

I'm glad to hear you feel Bobby Hill did his part properly...

My first step in taming my Tegu was to do exactly what you are doing. I put mine in a large enclosure (4'x2'x2') and as often as possible had my hands in the enclosure. Changing water, leveling mulch, any excuse to have my hands in there. At first I avoided contact with the Tegu, then as she showed less fear I would sometimes budge him out of my way, pet him or otherwise touch him.

With this approach it took less than 2 weeks for him to stop running from me completely and within a month was as tame as I could expect a small lizard to be...

Congrats and good luck. Please keep us informed here but you may also want to check out Bobby Hill's Tegu forum at www.tegutalk.com. I'm there under the same user name (although I haven't been there in a few weeks).

Oh, and we want pictures........ ;)

that is a beautiful tegu you got there! remember to give her plenty of attention everyday, in my experience tegus regress fairly quickly and easily if you piss them off or otherwise ignore them. also be aware that tegus are very smart, they will pick up on things like youre body language, and mood, and should be treated as you would like them to treat you :)
