Just finishing up some schoolwork and hoping some lungfish posts come up today LOL Enjoying watching the snails actually... They never sleep lol
I think snails are WAY to under hyped. They are so much fun, and they can make you some serious money. I sell my columbian ramshorns for $1.25, at a rate of 40-50 a month. Plus they are really good looking.

Wyld - I agree - I don't know why they never really caught on. They're always doing something comical, or interesting.

Are the Columbian Rams the big 'uns? I have a few ramshorns that are about 1 3/4 inches - Some are gold/yellow in color, and one is striped tan and brown. Is this what a Columbian is? (As opposed to the tiny ones found in local US ponds)

Have you tried keeping the Olive Nerites? Just got some this weekend and they are great also. Marble sized.

Never done the nerites. Yep those are the columbians, I also keep a set of red ramshorns, which have a bright red foot. The best thing any of my snails has ever done, was one of my big apples climbed up on to my airstone, and filled with air. 20 minutes later, the snail slowly started drifting down. I noticed when he was about half way down, and it looked as though he was just floating in the middle of the water column.

A bright red foot eh? Awesome! Did you get my post about the snails? I was interested in getting a couple of each, but wasn't sure if you were wanting to sell in such a small qty. How big is your apple snail? (That's different from the Mystery, right?) Been trying to find some too :)
What do you do about the calcium needs? I don't like crushed coral - what are my other options? Off to bed for an hour before class :)

I must have missed the post about the snails. I'd be happy to send ya some. My old apple passed on several years ago, and I never replaced him. He was approximately the size of a softball. I miss him, but they are a pain to acquire now. For calcium, I just use the seachem liquid calcium for reefs. Same need, just different use. Very easy.

How about sending me a PM with all the different types you have, and we can come up with a price / shipping cost? Next week is spring break for me, so I'll be in Mass at that time. Not sure if that makes any difference.

As for the calcium - How much do I add? (Of the product you suggested) Also, will this calcium affect fish? I have a goldfish (pearlscale), a Dojo loach, and cory cats in there with the snails.

Are the apple snails the "cana" snails seen on Aquabid? Why so hard to replace?
A softball sized snail - awesome! How long did he live? How long does your average Mystery or Col. Ramshorn live?

Thanks

Anyone else have a feeder-eating Leporinus? My L. moralesi is a feeder-glutton.
