Tell me this is a Venustus...

i think you have a mixed fish (poly x livistoni) or (poly x venustus) im pretty sure you don't have a pure poly. I was lucky enough to buy one at my LFS @about .5 inch and now he's about 6.5inches and i noticed his pattern is more like military camo.(hence the name rambo), he also has orange tipped dorsel fins, a spotted tail fin, and occasionally shows off his blue tinted gills when angry sorry no pics hopefully i'll be able to post some next week

That's a livingstoni - They are very popular in Mass, so I see them all the time - Polystigma are more heavily patterned than this one.

Totally agreed...that looks like a Livingtoni.

Looks like a Fusco. I had a small 1"er that I bought thinking it was a Livinstoni. After looking at dpool's pics I'm thinking i now have a Nimbo. fusco. As mine has grown, now about 3", it is taking on the fusco characteristics. Red line on dorsal and elongated face. Either way, what ever I have it is cool and aggresive and hammers frozen krill. Hopefully he will reach the 7-10" range. All nimbochormis are cool fish and have additudes.

from the bad pic I would have to say it is a livingstoni. His body is more silver than the yellowish tint that venustus have. The pattern is not crowed like a poly.

:iagree:

Polystigma my friend, but keep it they are cool fish and the males color up nicely when they reach maturity and even the females look really cool with their brown speckles all over their bodies!
