Temensis at over two feet

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2.5' tall.

It was a big jump to go 3' tall, looking back now i wish i had did it however i'm having two new tanks and i've choose to go 2.5' tall again, the price just rockets for that 6" but it's a good 6".

One day i'l pay the price.

My water change method is very difficult due to the size of the tank, about a year ago i fitted a HMA filter behind the fridge and had to clip some pipe along the kitchen ceiling into the conservatory, after doing this i had to bring it across the top of the tank so the water would flow into the tank.

When the guys built the tank they left me a sump behind with a hole in the top, i had to push some PVC pipe into it flowing to the drain, about 6 months ago i had to change the cartridge on the HMA filter.

Dreadful it is, as it's now summer, sometimes it gets a little warm and i turn the flow up full blast and it will change the tank approximately 100% in 24 hours.

Not bad is it?

Filtration is just as straight forward, sump, 3 chambers, 1st is two layers of jap matting with a newly installed layer of filter wool underneath which is clogging after 1 weeks worth of use so i better fish that out tomorrow before my sump floods.
Middle chamber is the insides of some canisters i had a year ago, some pot scrubbies and a load of ceramic bricks i've acquired since setting up the tank, currently maturing media for my new tanks.

This sump also houses a 14" Tig until i get these new tanks set up.

I've not owned them all their life but on the smaller Tem i can still faintly see some of the spangling so i imagine they went through the same greyish spangly look that you commonly see with Temensis whilst smaller.

Holy crap those things are monsters! Wow you really know how to grow the beasts!

Ade the 20" Tig is still in the tank - i'll be moving him out as soon as i have another tank though.

Any experience with housing two Tigs together?

As I stated earlier, those 2 bass are amazing. That said, what does it take to keep them happy? There is no doubt those two can eat a few pounds per feeding. What does it truly take to keep them happy?
